Volkswagen’s digital radio website

In 2001 RadioVW.com was Volkswagen’s digital radio website. Their ad agency, Arnold Communications, asked GHava to come up with an image to “illustrate music”. As we’re not particularly known for one illustration style we tried to answer this almost impossibly open brief as directly as we could. And as VW is a car company, we tried to incorporate a sense of the open road into the image, too. The use of bold color was also extremely deliberate, and just seemed appropriate to what VW was about at the time. The idea was to create something that felt timeless but appropriate, and we must have been at least a little successful, because they continued to use the image for years.
